Even the BCCI tried to convince him after his decision. Madan Lal, former cricketer and head coach of India, has made an effort to convince Kohli.
While speaking to the media, the former Indian cricketer requested Virat Kohli to reconsider his retirement and make a comeback to Test cricket. He said, "Virat Kohli’s passion for Indian cricket was unmatched. It’s my wish that he should come back to Test cricket after retirement. There’s nothing wrong with returning. If not in this series, he should make a comeback in the next.”
Madan Lal said that it is not too late for Virat to come back and play Test cricket for at least 1-2 years. "From my point of view, he should reverse his retirement. Because he can easily play for 1-2 years. It’s about you passing your experience to the youngsters. You just left it. It’s not too late. Please come back," said the former all-rounder.
The Indian batter and by far the best skipper to lead India in the longest format announced his retirement shockingly days after his fellow teammate Rohit Sharma did. With 9320 runs in the format in 123 tests, Virat was among the highest-rated batters. His 14-year-long career ended abruptly, leaving the fans and the cricketing world in a tense situation.
